Job summary

Travelers is seeking an Associate Senior Counsel to manage a caseload of predominantly moderate to higher exposure matters, including Major Case matters depending on line of business. You will leverage trial experience to lead cases to verdict or negotiate resolutions, and provide in-depth analysis to insured clients and claim partners on file handling strategies.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate or equivalent required; licensed to practice law
• 4+ years of insurance defense litigation experience
• Proven ability to handle hearings, trials and dispositive motions
• Strong written and oral advocacy with success in summary judgments or appeals
• Knowledge of local bench and bar and ability to communicate complex information

Responsibilities

• Handle caseload of predominantly moderate to higher exposure cases, including Major Case matters
• Apply litigation skills to try cases to verdict or negotiate resolutions
• Conduct advanced legal research and craft submissions, briefs and motions
• Attend court events, depositions and other proceedings
• Provide analysis and recommendations to insured clients and claim partners on file handling strategies
• Collaborate with experts to develop case strategies and prepare testimony
• Build and maintain client and partner relationships and provide training updates
