Job summary

Black Hills Energy seeks an Instrument Technician to support coal and gas turbine processes at our Gillette, WY plant. You will perform instrumentation and electrical functions, support PLCs, DCIS, and related control equipment, and ensure safe, reliable operations.

The role requires strong electrical theory knowledge, HV handling capability, and experience with protection relays, P&IDs, and NEC standards. Join a safety‑driven team offering comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in electrical/electronics or six years' equivalent experience, including AC/DC theory and voltage levels.
• Two years of industry-related experience, power plant preferred.
• MSHA Electrical Card.

Responsibilities

• Perform instrument technician tasks and plant instrumentation maintenance.
• Troubleshoot electrical circuits, PLCs, VFDs, motor controls; fix relays and protection systems.
• Read P&IDs, calibrate instrumentation, set spans and zeros.
• Design/procure parts and install new power and control circuits per NEC.
