Job summary

NRG Energy is seeking a skilled Power Plant Instrumentation & Controls Technician to troubleshoot, calibrate, and maintain boiler, turbine, generator, and auxiliary equipment. You will interpret P&ID’s/CWD’s, diagnose interlocks, and perform benchwork when required.

The role requires 5–7 years in Power Plant I&C with strong problem-solving abilities, safety awareness, and a valid driver’s license. PLC/SCADA experience is preferred, and compliance with safety and environmental guidelines is

Qualifications

5-7 years of Power Plant I&C experience in electronics, troubleshooting, repair, and calibration.
Valid driver’s license.
Preference for PLC/SCADA and related control systems knowledge.

Responsibilities

Provide maintenance support to troubleshoot, calibrate, and maintain all instrumentation for boilers, turbines, generators, and plant auxiliary equipment.
Read and interpret P&ID’s and CWD’s to locate, identify, troubleshoot, and repair plant systems and interlocks.
Install, calibrate, test, and maintain protective relays, metering, monitoring, and control systems; perform benchwork in shop locations as needed.
Use test equipment and hand tools to troubleshoot and maintain devices and systems.
Document work progress with written and electronic records and continuously update knowledge of plant systems.
