Orbital Engineering, Inc. in Baton Rouge is seeking a Senior Instrument Engineer with 10+ years of experience to support the Instrumentation Department in our Baton Rouge, LA office.

The role involves technical and project execution oversight for heavy industrial retrofit projects in petrochemical, oil & gas, and industrial gas sectors. Strong leadership, communication, and client-relations skills are essential.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Electrical, Instrumentation and Control Systems or Industrial Engineering from an accredited university.
• 10+ years of senior engineering experience in heavy industrial environments.
• Experience leading engineering teams or departments, preferably in consulting engineering.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with clients and staff.
• Project management experience and understanding of project control principles/tools.
• Knowledge of ISA standards for instrumentation and NEC NFPA 70.

Responsibilities

• Lead instrumentation project engineering and develop contractor construction packages (datasheets, plans, wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, scopes).
• Prepare and guide single/multidiscipline engineering proposals with scopes, schedules and cost estimates.
• Review engineering calculations, designs and drawings for accuracy and completeness.
• Develop and upgrade technical standards/specifications for projects and maintain design references.
• Provide technical liaison and support regional business development initiatives.
