Job summary

Orbital Engineering, Inc. is seeking an experienced Lead Electrical and Instrument Designer to support our Baton Rouge, LA office.

The role involves coordinating with Designers and Engineers on multiple projects, meeting with clients, conducting field walks, and developing multi-disciplined proposals. This on-site, senior-level position requires strong communication, leadership, and the ability to manage a design and drafting team while ensuring compliance with client, industry, and company

Qualifications

• Ten (10) plus years’ electrical and instrument design and technician experience with clients in pipeline, chemical, refining, terminal, and/or power industries.
• Design and drafting experience using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation products.
• Experience with AutoCAD 2D & AutoCAD Plant 3D; 3D Modeling; InTools.

Responsibilities

• Develops detailed engineering schedules and man-hour budgets for projects.
• Perform and/or participate in site visits and field walks.
• Coordinates and develops drawings and associated documents for projects.
• Develops and compiles engineering design packages.
• Work in a team environment supporting multiple projects at one time.
• Assist Engineers and direct less experienced Designers in the design, drafting, and development of installation drawings.
• Reviewing vendor shop/fabrication drawings/documents.
• Ensures that Client, Industry, and Orbital guidelines, standards, and practices are being followed.
• Capability to perform quality control checks of design packages.
• Manage and schedule an design and drafting team.
• Develop estimates and proposals for new multi-disciplined work.
