Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Health Information Manager to perform inpatient DRG coding for facility services. This full-time role (40 hours/week) allows telecommuting from anywhere in the U.S.

Responsibilities include DRG assignment, chart review, and maintaining coding accuracy within official guidelines. Qualifications require 3+ years in inpatient DRG coding, AHIMA/AAPC coding certification, and proficiency with ICD-10-CM/PCS, Excel, and EMR systems.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of inpatient DRG coding experience in an acute care facility.
• Professional coder certification with AHIMA and/or AAPC to be maintained annually.
• Intermediate proficiency with Windows PC, Excel, and EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Identify assignment of ICD-10 CM, ICD-10-PCS, DRG for facility services.
• Expert knowledge in Inpatient DRG Coding.
• Abstract additional data elements during chart review when coding.
• Adhere to coding ethics per AAPC/AHIMA guidelines.
• Maintain coding quality and productivity as directed by managers.
• Query physicians when appropriate to ensure accurate coding.
• Keep up-to-date coding knowledge per QM Manager and Director.
• Participate in coding department meetings and training events.
• Take on additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
