Job summary

Trinity Health is seeking an experienced Inpatient Coder to analyze inpatient records, assign MS-DRG/APR DRGs, POA indicators, and SOI/ROM. You will review documentation, query physicians when needed, and ensure coding complies with current reimbursement rules.

The role requires AHIMA credentials, 3 years of inpatient coding experience, and proficiency with encoder/CAC software. Strong communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Completion of an AHIMA-approved coding program or Associate degree in Health Information Management or related field is required.
• RHIT, RHIA, or CCS certification is required.
• Three years of current acute care or inpatient coding experience is required.
• Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and coding for MS-DRG/APR DRG assignments.
• Proficiency in identifying POA, SOI, ROM indicators and HACs/PSIs for accurate reimbursement.

Responsibilities

• Navigate patient health records to determine diagnoses, procedures, and MS-DRG/APR DRG assignments.
• Review documentation to support coding accuracy and minimize denials.
• Maintain knowledge of coding guidelines and reimbursement regulations.
• Communicate with physicians/CDS for clarification of documentation.
• Use encoder software and CAC tools to ensure timely and accurate coding.
