Job summary

LCMC Health is seeking a Coding Senior to accurately assign ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT codes across inpatient and ambulatory records. The role involves determining MS-DRG and APC groupings, validating charges, and ensuring documentation supports coding decisions.

You will work with physicians and clinical staff to resolve coding issues, monitor regulatory changes, and perform coding tasks aligned with department standards. Strong analytical, communication, and collaborative skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of coding experience or equivalent education.
• Preferred: completion of AHIMA or AAPC coding program.
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT/HCPCS, MS-DRG and APR-DRG coding guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Navigate patient health records to determine accurate codes, MS-DRG/APC assignments and required modifiers.
• Validate charges by reconciling with documentation.
• Communicate with clinical staff and physicians to resolve documentation issues.
• Identify and escalate complex coding problems to leadership.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding and reimbursement regulations.
