Job summary

LCMC Health is seeking a Senior Medical Coder to determine ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT diagnostic and procedural codes across multiple specialties, ensuring accurate MS-DRG and APC assignments. You will verify charges, communicate with clinical teams, and uphold patient confidentiality.

As a senior member, you’ll share expertise, act as a go-to resource, and strive for high-quality, timely coding while staying current with reimbursement rules and regulations.

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience as an outpatient or inpatient hospital or clinic coder.
• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent or appropriate work experience in medical coding is required.

Responsibilities

• Navigate the patient health record and other systems to accurately determine diagnosis and procedures codes, MS-DRGs and APCs.
• Validate charges by comparing charges with health record documentation.
• Communicate with clinical staff and CDI Specialist regarding documentation issues.
• Identify concerns and notify leadership for problem resolution.
• Track issues requiring follow-up to facilitate coding in a timely fashion.
• Meet and exceed coding quality and productivity standards.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and knowledge of coding regulations.
