Job summary

Sustainable World, Inc. seeks an experienced Inpatient Facility Coder to join our health information team in Tucson. The coder will assign ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT or HCPCS codes for inpatient and select outpatient records, ensuring accurate data for reimbursement.

Minimum five years of acute care coding experience and relevant RHIT/RHIA/CCS/CPC/CCS-P/CIC/COC credentials are required. Proficiency with 3M, CAC, and Epic is expected to support compliant coding workflows.

Qualifications

• Completion of a 2-year Health Information Management program or equivalent.
• Five years of acute care hospital coding experience.
• RHIT/RHIA/CCS/CCS-P/CPC/CIC/COC certification is required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assigns ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS, CPT or HCPCS codes to diagnoses and procedures.
• Code inpatient or outpatient records accurately; for outpatient, code four areas independently.
• Follow official coding guidelines to ensure consistency and accuracy.
• Use 3M 360, CAC, Epic and other applications for proper coding.
• Ensure documentation supports accurate coding and reimbursement; request clarification when needed.
• Determine the correct sequence of diagnoses per UHDDS standards.
• Input abstract data and codes for distribution to payers and regulators.
• Maintain current knowledge of coding principles and guidelines.
• Maintain 95% coding accuracy and 95% weekly utilization productivity.
• Review charts returned by payers for challenges.
• Adhere to safety, confidentiality, and departmental standards.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
