Job summary

Optum360 seeks a Certified Sr. (IP) Acute Edits Medical Coder to work remotely from anywhere in the U.S. Full-time, Mon-Fri, 8:00am-5:00pm with occasional overtime. You will correct ICD-10-CM/PCS, DRG analysis, and CPT/ICD-10 coding while ensuring documentation quality and policy compliance.

Requirements include AHIMA/AAPC certification, 3+ years inpatient coding, and proficiency with Excel and EMR. Telecommuting is supported under UnitedHealth Group policy.

Qualifications

• Professional coder certification from AHIMA and/or AAPC and annual renewal.
• 3+ years inpatient coding experience with ICD-10-CM/PCS and DRG.
• 2+ years experience with OCE, MUE, NCCI classifications and reimbursement structures.
• Proficient in Windows, MS Excel, and EMR systems.
• Experience in a Level I trauma center and teaching hospital environments a plus.

Responsibilities

• Identify ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for inpatient services and assess DRG impact per guidelines.
• Assign CPT/ICD-10 codes for outpatient surgery, observation, emergency and ancillary services.
• Understand APC codes and perform chart review data abstraction as needed.
• Provide documentation feedback to providers and query physicians when appropriate.
• Maintain up-to-date coding knowledge and participate in department meetings.
