Job summary

Optum360 is hiring a Certified Sr. (IP) Acute Edits Medical Coder to work remotely across the U.S. You will assign ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT codes, ensure DRG accuracy, and provide feedback to physicians based on chart reviews.

The role demands familiarity with NICU and hospital coding guidelines and a strong track record in inpatient care coding. Requirements include AHIMA/AAPC certification, 3+ years inpatient coding experience, MUE/NCCI knowledge, and proficiency with Excel and EMR systems.

Qualifications

• Inpatient ICD-10-CM/PCS coding with DRG knowledge
• CPT and ICD-10 coding for outpatient services per guidelines
• Understand Medicare APC codes and their application
• Abstract additional data elements during chart review when coding
• Adhere to coding policies per AHIMA/AAPC and client guidelines
• Maintain up-to-date coding knowledge per QM/Management teams
• Provide documentation feedback to providers and query physicians
• Review charts coded, held, or missing and maintain records
• Flexibility to work overtime or weekends as needed

Responsibilities

• Identify appropriate ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for inpatient services and DRG impact
• Assign CPT and ICD-10 codes for outpatient services per guidelines
• Understand APC codes and their application
• Abstract additional data during chart review when coding
• Provide feedback to physicians on documentation and coding accuracy
• Stay current with coding policies and continuing education
• Maintain documentation of charts and coding status across cases
• Participate in coding department meetings and trainings
• Adhere to company telecommuter policies and remote work guidelines
