Job summary

Optum360 is hiring a Certified Sr. (IP) Acute Edits Medical Coder to work remotely from anywhere in the U.S. The role focuses on accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS coding, DRG impact, and CPT coding for inpatient and outpatient services.

You will ensure compliance with coding policies and provide documentation feedback to physicians as needed. Requirements include AHIMA/AAPC credentials, 3+ years inpatient coding experience, and proficiency with EMR and MS Excel.

Qualifications

• Inpatient coding experience with ICD-10-CM/PCS and DRG.
• Experience with OCE, MUE and NCCI classification and reimbursement.
• Proficient with Windows PC, MS Excel and EMR systems.
• CPC/AHIMA or equivalent certification required.
• Telecommuting eligibility and US-based work authorization.

Responsibilities

• Identify ICD-10-CM/PC and ICD-10 coding for inpatient services and DRG impact.
• Assign CPT and ICD-10 codes for outpatient services per guidelines.
• Understand APC codes and related coding policies.
• Abstract data elements during chart review when needed.
• Provide feedback to providers and query physicians when appropriate.
• Maintain up-to-date coding knowledge through QM and Director guidance.
• Participate in coding dept. meetings and training events.
• Review and maintain records of chart coding status.
