Job summary

Commure is hiring a Senior Software Engineer on the Infrastructure team to own the foundational infrastructure and internal developer platform used by every other engineering team. This horizontal role involves designing, building, and operating end-to-end, including cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes fleet, release and deployment, and the observability stack.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering in infra, platform, or SRE roles.
• Experience building internal developer platforms with a product mindset.
• Experience with public cloud (GCP, AWS, Azure) and hybrid environments.
• Experience with cloud-native technologies and IaC (Terraform, Pulumi).
• Experience with Crossplane and Kubernetes operators.
• Experience with service mesh and modern release workflows (GitOps).
• Experience with observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry).
• Experience in regulated industries (healthcare, finance) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build out the internal developer platform: templates, self-serve tooling, local dev environments, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Own the cloud foundation: infrastructure as code (Terraform) and provisioning via Kubernetes operators and Crossplane.
• Run the Kubernetes fleet: lifecycle, upgrades, autoscaling, multi-cluster patterns, and Helm packaging.
• Design the traffic and network layer: service mesh, ingress, mTLS, and routing.
• Own release and deployment with Argo CD and GitOps workflows, progressive delivery, and environment promotion patterns.
• Own the observability stack: OpenTelemetry instrumentation, Prometheus metrics, Grafana dashboards, and tracing.
• Build zero-trust access to internal and external systems: VPN, BeyondCorp, short-lived credentials.
• Partner with Security on secrets management and policy-as-code that meet HIPAA and SOC 2 by default.
