Job summary

TEK Systems is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer (Linux, Datacenter & Automation) for a contract position in Santa Clara, CA onsite. The role blends Linux administration, infrastructure operations, server hardware experience, automation, and troubleshooting across large-scale compute environments.

You will deploy, configure, and support Linux-based infrastructure, troubleshoot hardware, OS, networking, and platform issues, and develop automation using Python, Bash, and Ansible.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in Infrastructure Engineering, Systems Engineering, Linux Administration, Datacenter Operations, or related fields.
• Experience supporting Linux environments (RHEL, CentOS, Rocky Linux, Ubuntu, or similar).
• Hands-on experience with server hardware and infrastructure troubleshooting.
• Understanding of enterprise networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs, switching, and routing.
• Experience with scripting/automation using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar tools.
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
• Experience working within physical datacenter environments or enterprise infrastructure teams.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, and support Linux-based infrastructure environments.
• Troubleshoot hardware, OS, networking, and platform-level issues.
• Provision and validate physical servers and infrastructure components.
• Support datacenter operations, including server deployments, hardware replacements, and system diagnostics.
• Develop automation and tooling using Python, Bash, Ansible, or similar technologies.
• Support infrastructure expansion, modernization, and operational readiness initiatives.
• Monitor system health, performance, and reliability while identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Work cross-functionally with engineering and operations teams to resolve complex infrastructure challenges.
• Document processes, configurations, troubleshooting procedures, and operational best practices.
