Job summary

Maximus is seeking a Senior IBM COBOL Developer for a remote role supporting IRS. Requires active MBI and extensive COBOL experience. Will lead design, coding, testing, and documentation efforts across COBOL programs and DB2 utilities.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, update technical docs, and mentor junior staff while ensuring compliance with IRS processing standards and security requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree plus 5+ years of professional experience or equivalent.
• Active IRS Moderate-Risk Background Investigation (MBI) required.
• At least four years of experience with IBM COBOL.
• Experience with DB2 and IBM DB2 utilities, CICS, SQL, JCL, and batch processing.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of COBOL-based solutions meeting business requirements.
• Update documentation and diagrams as needed.
• Write, review, and test COBOL code; perform unit testing and code reviews.
• Collaborate with managers and engineers to clarify program intent and implement changes.
• Provide guidance and training to other developers and assist testers.
