Job summary

Maximus is seeking a Senior IBM COBOL Developer to support the IRS client in a remote, full-time capacity. Must possess an active IRS MBI and have strong COBOL, DB2, and CICS experience.

Responsibilities include designing, coding, testing, and maintaining COBOL programs, updating documentation, and guiding other developers. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 5+ years of experience required.
• At least five years of relevant experience is required.
• Must possess an active IRS Moderate-Risk Background Investigation (MBI).
• At least four years of experience with IBM COBOL.
• Experience with DB2 and IBM DB2 utilities.
• Experience with CICS.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to interface with all levels of management.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of software solutions meeting business requirements.
• Design and implement modules to system specifications and perform unit testing.
• Evaluate new coding techniques and tools.
• Consult on requirements elicitation and definitions.
• Design software solutions per systems requirements and code accordingly.
• Perform code reviews and unit tests; integrate modules.
• Guide and train other developers; support testing and remediation.
• Troubleshoot production logs and data to support users.
• Investigate new solutions and techniques to improve standards.
