Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to lead Identity & Access Management within Platform, owning the technical strategy across 700+ internal systems.

You will set architecture, drive adoption, and mentor engineers while aligning with audit and regulatory requirements. The role blends advanced IAM, AWS, and Go expertise with a strong emphasis on responsible AI and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience with senior leadership across multi-team platforms.
• Deep IAM expertise across workforce identity, authorization, access lifecycle, or non-human identity.
• Production Go experience and distributed systems design on AWS; fluent in OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, SCIM, and workload identity patterns.
• Proven influence without authority; able to shift technical direction across orgs.
• Ability to translate audit and regulatory requirements into automated controls; strong executive communication.
• Uses generative AI responsibly with human oversight to boost workflow efficiency and quality.

Responsibilities

• Own the multi-year technical strategy for IAM end to end across 700+ internal systems.
• Drive architecture decisions across pods and teams; set standards and contracts for integration.
• Build adoption strategies, sequencing, and migration paths for platform-wide changes.
• Partner with Security, Compliance, IT, Infrastructure, and product leaders on audit/regulatory requirements.
• Lead data modeling and tooling for access governance across a heterogeneous estate.
• Mentor staff and senior engineers to deepen identity expertise in the org.
