Job summary

Coinbase, a remote-first company with quarterly in-person surges, is hiring a Senior Staff Software Engineer for Identity & Access Management within Platform. You will own the multi-year IAM strategy, unify identity types, and drive adoption across 700+ systems at scale.

You will mentor engineers, set architectural standards, and collaborate with Security, Compliance, IT, and product leadership to translate regulatory requirements into automated controls.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience with multi-team platform leadership.
• Deep IAM expertise across workforce identity, authorization, or non-human identity.
• Production Go experience and distributed systems on AWS.
• Fluency in OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, SCIM and workload identity patterns.
• Proven influence at senior levels, aligning leadership on complex access-risk problems.
• Ability to translate audit requirements into automated technical controls.

Responsibilities

• Own the multi-year technical strategy for IAM end to end.
• Drive architecture decisions across pods and teams you don’t manage.
• Build an adoption strategy for 700+ systems and migration paths.
• Partner with Security, Compliance, IT, Infrastructure, and product leadership on regulatory controls.
• Lead the data model and tooling for access governance.
• Mentor staff and senior engineers to deepen identity as a domain.
