Coinbase is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to lead Identity & Access Management in Platform, shaping a multi-year strategy across 700+ systems. You will own architecture, drive adoption, and partner with Security, Compliance, IT, and product leadership to translate regulatory requirements into automated controls.

The role demands senior technical influence and a track record of delivering complex distributed systems on AWS.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience with platform leadership.
• Deep IAM expertise across workforce identity, authorization, or non-human identity.
• Production Go experience and distributed systems design on AWS; identity protocols fluency.
• Influence without authority; align leadership on cross-team access-risk problems.

Responsibilities

• Own the multi-year IAM strategy and architecture for end-to-end identity.
• Drive decisions across pods and teams; set standards and integration contracts.
• Build adoption strategy for 700+ systems including migration paths.
• Partner with Security, Compliance, IT, Infrastructure, and product leadership.
• Lead the data model and tooling to answer 'who has access' across the estate.
• Mentor staff and senior engineers to deepen identity as a domain.
