Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer for utility-scale power projects. The role focuses on delivering design, commissioning, and integration of DCS/SCADA systems, and instrument specification across large-scale plants.

You will lead diverse teams, collaborate with multiple disciplines, and drive client relationships from proposal through execution in a hybrid work setting. The position requires 10+ years in design, consulting, or operations, PE eligibility, and strong

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical or related engineering discipline
• At least 10 years of design, consulting, or operations experience
• Ability to lead multi-person teams of engineers and designers
• 10 years of experience in instrument specification, PLC or DCS control systems, P&ID development, SCADA networks
• Experience with industrial DCS/PLC logic development, graphics and hardware implementation (ABB, Ovation, Siemens, GE preferred)
• Experience commissioning control systems and diagnosing issues to maintain high availability
• Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain PE within one year
• Proven ability to engage with clients, develop relationships and win work
• Ability to work independently and mentor junior staff
• Strong communication and technical writing skills
• Availability to work at least 3 days/week

Responsibilities

• Prepare specifications and drawings, write control system descriptions, and perform startup and commissioning activities
• Specify instrumentation such as pressure and flow transmitters, switches, and control valves for large power projects
• Design SCADA and OT networks including DCS/PLC, servers/workstations, switches and firewalls
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines on large design projects
• Contribute to proposals and client relationship development
• Select and troubleshoot field process instruments
• Demonstrate strong communication and teamwork in fast-paced environments
• Drive health & safety ownership in all project activities
