Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to lead utility-scale power projects, campus upgrades, and energy initiatives. You will guide multi-disciplinary teams, specify I&C components, and design DCS/PLC/SCADA solutions while coordinating with clients and internal stakeholders.

The role supports a hybrid work model across Jacobs offices nationwide, with potential PE licensure within a year and a focus on delivering reliable energy systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Advanced Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• At least 10 years of design, consulting, or operations experience.
• Ability to lead multi-person teams of engineers and designers to deliver projects.
• Experience with instrument specification, PLC/DCS control systems, P&ID development, SCADA networks.
• Experience with industrial DCS/PLC logic development, graphics development, and hardware implementation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare specifications and drawings; write control system descriptions; perform startup and commissioning.
• Specify instrumentation such as pressure/flow transmitters, switches, and control valves for large projects.
• Design SCADA and OT networks including DCS, PLCs, servers/workstations, switches and firewalls.
• Collaborate with other disciplines on large design projects to integrate control concepts.
• Engage with clients, develop relationships and win work, then deliver innovative solutions.
