Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to lead design for utility-scale power projects, including simple cycle and combined cycle plants, campus upgrades, and energy initiatives. The role demands broad knowledge of process design, industrial systems, and DCS/PLC/SCADA; you will mentor teams, develop technical concepts, and contribute to proposals and client relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or related field.
• At least 10 years of design, consulting, or operations experience.
• Ability to lead multi-person teams of engineers and designers.
• 10 years experience in instrument specification, PLC/DCS, P&ID, SCADA, and networks.
• Experience with industrial DCS/PLC logic development, graphics development, and hardware implementation.
• PE license or ability to obtain within one year.
• Proven ability to engage with clients, develop relationships and win work.
• Ability to work independently and mentor junior staff.
• Strong communication and technical writing skills.
• Availability to work at least 3 days/week.

Responsibilities

• Prepare specifications, drawings, and write control system descriptions.
• Specify instrumentation like pressure/flow transmitters and control valves.
• Design SCADA and OT networks including DCS/PLC, servers, and security.
• Collaborate with other disciplines on large design projects.
• Contribute to proposals and client relationships.
• Select and troubleshoot field process instruments.
• Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Work in a fast-paced consulting environment with deadlines.
• Drive health and safety ownership on projects.
