Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a senior Controls Engineer to design, modify, and analyze instrumentation and control systems at the Fermi 2 site in Newport, MI. The role involves leading PLC/DCS/HSI projects, interfacing with clients, and delivering robust control solutions for a nuclear power plant.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 10+ years designing instrumentation and controls systems in project teams for commercial/industrial apps.
• Professional Engineering license is preferred.
• Ability to clearly communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Knowledge of equipment options and pre-engineered systems for control design.
• Experience liaising with clients in a support or lead engineering role.
• Experience reviewing design documentation.

Responsibilities

• Develop Digital Systems Design — PLC, DCS, HSI, and networked computer systems.
• Prepare control system requirements and procurement specifications for nuclear plant controls.
• Interface with the client to ensure project execution and satisfaction.
• Prepare and review technical reports, calculations, and studies for client needs.
• Manage resources, loading, and develop estimates for tasks and budgets.
• Support the development of proposals.
• Prepare and review diagrams/drawings for new and upgraded controls solutions.
• Evaluate vendor bids from a technical perspective.
• Interface with vendors for document reviews, equipment checks, and FAT witnessing.
• Support project implementation at client facilities.
