Job summary
Sargent & Lundy seeks an experienced Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to lead major process control projects at a TRISO-X facility in Oak Ridge, TN. You will design and specify I&C systems for nuclear power plant upgrades, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with clients to ensure high-quality deliverables.
The role emphasizes I&C, automation, and AI-enabled workflows while maintaining strict regulatory and safety standards at a on-site facility.
Qualifications
- BS or MS in Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
- Minimum 5 years in design engineering for process control systems; nuclear power plant experience preferred.
- Experience with controls system design for LV/MV distribution and equipment like turbines, pumps.
Responsibilities
- Lead major process controls projects for upgrades and modifications to nuclear plants.
- Develop functional requirements and procurement specifications for I&C systems.
- Evaluate process instrumentation replacement and nuclear modification packages.
- Work on mechatronics and control systems for pumps, valves, heat exchangers, turbines, and reactors.
- Attend client meetings and conduct site walkdowns to ensure satisfaction.
- Mentor less experienced I&C design engineers.
