Job summary

Join Sargent & Lundy in Oak Ridge, Tennessee as a full‑time on‑site Instrumentation & Controls Engineer working on major digital upgrades for nuclear power projects. You will lead project teams, review drawings, develop PLC/DCS solutions, and interface with vendors to ensure client requirements are met.

The role emphasizes design of I&C systems for heavy industrial plants with BWR/PWR experience, safety‑critical controls, and collaboration across engineering disciplines.

Qualifications

• A BS or MS in Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET‑approved program.
• 10 or more years of experience in instrumentation and controls engineering for heavy industrial plants.
• Experience with low/medium voltage distribution and controls for turbines, pumps, feedwater, and data displays.
• Experience with I&C design for BWR/PWR reactors including DCS for turbine and feedwater control.

Responsibilities

• Lead design of instrumentation and controls for nuclear power projects with focus on digital upgrades.
• Direct technical decisions in a project team with engineers and designers.
• Coordinate system design to meet specifications and client requirements.
• Prepare calculations, schematics, and design input documents for drawings.
• Interface with vendors on materials and equipment specifications.
• Attend client meetings and site walkdowns to validate scope and satisfaction.
• Support outage activities as required.
