Job summary

Sargent & Lundy’s Nuclear Power Group seeks an experienced Instrumentation & Controls Engineer for on-site work at TRISO‑X Fuel Fabrication Facility in Oak Ridge, TN. You will design I&C systems for nuclear plant upgrades, lead major projects, and mentor junior engineers in a fast-paced environment.

5+ years’ nuclear I&C design experience preferred; strong knowledge of DCS, LV/MV distribution, and instrumentation. On-site role with competitive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• BS degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• Minimum 5 years of design engineering experience for process control systems, nuclear plant experience preferred.
• Experience with controls system design for low/medium voltage distribution and plant equipment.
• Power plant I&C design experience for BWR/PWR reactors, including DCS.
• Knowledge of available equipment and pre-engineered systems for design execution.
• Experience reviewing design drawings.

Responsibilities

• You will work on major process controls engineering projects for upgrades and modifications to nuclear power plants.
• Lead and mentor less experienced I&C design engineers.
• Attend client meetings and perform site walkdowns to ensure client satisfaction.
• Provide guidance on automation and AI tools to improve workflows and reduce rework.
• Oversee automation tasks (e.g., Python, MATLAB) with review of outputs.
