Job summary

Valar Atomics is seeking a Staff Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Engineer to design, develop, commission, and maintain control systems for nuclear fuel manufacturing facilities. This role spans PLC/DCS, SCADA, HMI, ISA-88 batch control, SAFETY instrumented systems, historian data, and enterprise integration.

You will lead complex projects, oversee contractors, and mentor junior engineers, with a focus on safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering field.
• 8+ years of I&C/controls experience in process industries with ownership of complex projects.
• Hands-on PLC programming with major platforms using IEC 61131-3 languages.
• Experience developing SCADA applications on major platforms.
• Experience QA/testing of control systems and commissioning.
• Familiarity with ISA-95 and enterprise-control integration concepts.
• Strong instrumentation, loop tuning, and safety systems experience.
• Ability to read P&IDs and instrument data sheets.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain PLC/DCS programs across multiple platforms.
• Configure SCADA/HMI applications and related databases and alarms.
• Design HMI displays for local and supervisory levels.
• Develop ISA-88 batch control sequences and recipe management.
• Configure and manage ISA-18.2 alarms and KPI monitoring.
• Implement SIS/SIL requirements per IEC 61511.
• Support historian systems and data integration with MES/ERP/LIMS.
• Lead commissioning, FAT/SAT, and documentation.
