Job summary

Valar Atomics is seeking a Staff I&C Hardware Engineer to specify, design, install, commission, and maintain instrumentation and control hardware for nuclear fuel manufacturing facilities. The role emphasizes field instrument selection, control panel design, hazardous area classification, and SIS hardware with senior technical leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Chemical, or Systems Engineering.
  • 8+ years of instrumentation or I&C engineering experience in process industries.
  • Experience leading hazardous area classification and intrinsic safety loop verification.
  • Ability to read P&IDs, electrical schematics, loop diagrams, and instrument data sheets.
  • Experience with instrument calibration, loop checking, and field commissioning.
  • Familiarity with IEC 61511 and IEC 61508 in SIS hardware workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Specify, design, install, commission, and maintain instrument hardware for nuclear fuel manufacturing facilities.
  • Own instrument index, loop diagrams, I/O lists, and P&ID instrumentation mark-ups.
  • Lead safety instrumented system hardware scope including SIL verification.
  • Tune PID and advanced regulatory control loops; commission field instrumentation.
  • Coordinate with process, mechanical, and piping engineers on installation details.
  • Provide direction to contractors and vendors; mentor junior engineers.
