Job summary

Valar Atomics is seeking a Senior Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to design, develop, commission, and maintain control systems for nuclear fuel manufacturing facilities across PLC and DCS programming, SCADA, ISA-88 batch control, and safety instrumented systems.

You will lead technical leadership on complex projects, oversee contractors, and mentor junior engineers, ensuring reliability and nuclear safety in a fast-growing energy company.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Computer, or Systems Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5+ years of I&C/controls experience leading complex projects through design to commissioning.
• Hands-on PLC programming with IEC 61131-3 languages on major platforms.
• Experience developing or maintaining SCADA applications on major platforms.
• ISA-88 batch control experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, commission, and maintain control systems for nuclear fuel facilities.
• Program PLC/DCS and develop SCADA/HMI per ISA-101 and HP/HMI principles.
• Lead safety instrumented functions (SIFs) and IEC 61511 lifecycle tasks.
• Configure historian systems and data dashboards for enterprise integration.
• Lead commissioning, FAT/SAT, and loop tuning with contractors and teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and review control system deliverables for quality.
