Job summary

Tetra Tech is seeking a Senior Hydrotechnical Engineer to join our Power team. This role is geographically flexible within the United States and focuses on hydrotechnical design and analysis for hydropower projects.

You will conduct hydrological studies, develop models, design hydraulic structures, and prepare reports and permitting documents while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on projects from $10M to $400M.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
PE license (US or Canada) required.
6+ years of consulting engineering experience.
Expertise in hydrotechnical engineering and hydraulic structures.
Proficiency with Microsoft 365; advanced Excel a plus.
Experience in hydrological modeling, sediment transport, and hydraulic analysis.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Willingness to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

Deliver sustainable engineering solutions as Hydrotechnical Engineer.
Conduct hydrological assessments including low-flow and flood flow analyses.
Use hydrotechnical modeling software to develop analyses and summaries.
Perform hydraulic design for rivers: weirs, intakes, dams.
Prepare technical reports and permit submissions.
Conduct energy and economic evaluations for hydropower.
Ensure compliance with standards and environmental regulations.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on hydropower projects ranging from $10M to $400M.
Support continuous professional development and maintain knowledge.
Work safely and report health and safety concerns.
Perform additional duties as required.
