Job summary

Tetra Tech, Inc. is seeking a Senior Dam Safety Engineer to join our hydropower and dam safety practice.

The role offers hybrid work options from our Seattle, WA office or other offices in CO, TN, or the Pacific Northwest and centers on inspections, risk assessments, design, and program management for dam safety projects. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, mentor staff, lead multidisciplinary teams, and support client relationships across federal and state agencies.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in civil, geotechnical, geological engineering or related field.
Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in dams, hydropower, water conveyance or hydraulic structures.
Active PE license.
Proven project management or technical leadership experience.
Construction field experience and troubleshooting能力 in the field.
Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical teams.
Experience preparing and reviewing technical reports, drawings, specs, and cost estimates.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office for documentation and communications.

Responsibilities

Lead or support inspections, assessments, and risk assessments for dams, hydropower facilities, pumped-storage projects, and related structures.
Engage in FERC Part 12 and USACE dam safety activities, Comprehensive Assessments and Periodic Inspections, risk analyses, and related evaluations.
Develop analyses, designs, and recommendations for dam and hydropower facilities.
Lead or support hydraulic structure design, including dams, spillways, gates, and diversion structures.
Prepare and review technical reports, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, owners, contractors, and regulators to deliver quality outcomes.
Serve as project manager with technical oversight and mentorship to staff.
Visit project sites for inspections, field support, and condition evaluation.
Apply engineering judgment to address dam safety and infrastructure challenges.
Support proposal development, client relations, and growth of dam safety services.
