Job summary

Tetra Tech is seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer for our Hydropower and Water Resources team. This role can be performed from anywhere in the United States.

You will work under senior engineers to contribute from feasibility to operation on hydropower and water infrastructure projects. Ideal candidates have a mechanical engineering background with pro­gressive experience in hydropower, dam, water conveyance, or hydro-mechanical systems, and strong writing and collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration in the US or Canada.
• Approximately 6–10 years of progressive mechanical engineering and project experience.
• Demonstrated hydropower and water resources project experience.
• Experience with hydro-mechanical systems and North American codes.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical design and analysis for hydropower and water infrastructure projects.
• Develop layouts for powerhouse equipment, penstocks, piping, and gates.
• Review vendor proposals and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Support construction and commissioning with RFIs and field inspections.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
