Job summary

We are seeking a Senior Hydrotechnical Engineer to join Tetra Tech's Power team. This full‑time role can be performed from anywhere in the United States, with responsibilities spanning hydrological analyses, hydraulic design, and regulatory reporting for hydropower projects valued from $10M to $400M.

Ideal candidates hold a Civil Engineering degree and PE registration in the US or Canada, with 6+ years of consulting experience and strong communication skills. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• PE registration in US or Canada.
• 6+ years consulting engineering experience.
• Expert in hydrotechnical engineering and hydraulic structures.
• Proficient in Microsoft 365; advanced Excel skills a plus.
• Experience in hydrological modeling and sediment transport.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Conduct hydrological assessments including low‑flow and flood flow analyses.
• Use hydrotechnical modeling software to develop analyses and summaries.
• Perform hydraulic design for river projects (weirs, intakes, dams).
• Prepare technical reports and regulatory submissions.
• Conduct energy and economic evaluations for hydropower plants.
• Ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on projects from $10M to $400M.
• Maintain professional development and knowledge.
• Work safely and report health and safety concerns.
• Perform additional duties as required.
