Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Warrenville, IL, is seeking an experienced HVAC Engineer to design and optimize complex HVAC systems for commercial, laboratory and industrial facilities. The position is hybrid, requiring in-office work three days per week.

You will perform studies, calculations, and detailed design, prepare specifications for equipment, and collaborate with engineers, project managers, clients and suppliers to deliver timely solutions while following ASHRAE standards.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering from ABET-accredited program required
• Ten+ years HVAC system and chilled water design experience for commercial, labs, and industrial facilities
• Proficiency with TRACE 700 or 3D+; AutoCAD and Microstation; ability to create P&IDs
• Familiarity with HVAC codes and standards

Responsibilities

• Design HVAC systems and investigate, troubleshoot, and solve a wide variety of HVAC engineering issues
• Develop integrated HVAC systems including commercial/industrial ventilation, control rooms, laboratories, and chilled water/ heating system design
• Provide support in planning, scheduling, conducting, or coordinating detailed design phases of facility engineering work
• Perform design calculations and develop detailed system designs
• Prepare technical specifications for HVAC equipment
• Prepare engineering studies
• Support other engineers, PMs, clients, and suppliers to assure a complete and timely design
• Assist senior engineers with reviews of existing facilities to propose upgrades and may present findings to clients and peers
• Familiarity with ASHRAE and current HVAC industry codes and standards
