Job summary

Edgewater Technical Associates seeks aPrincipal Engineer – Mechanical HVAC Design Engineer to lead complex HVAC design efforts for nuclear/process facilities in the U.S. You will develop and oversee technical programs, sizing calculations, and P&IDs, while guiding more junior staff.

The role requires extensive experience with NFPA, ASHRAE, ASME, and SMACNA standards, plus field verification and cross-disciplinary coordination. A DOE/industrial context and security clearances may be relevant.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or equivalent with 5+ years of relevant HVAC/engineering experience or Master’s with 8+ years; or Bachelor’s with 10+ years in applicable fields.
• Bachelor’s in Mechanical, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering or current PE in Mechanical/Chemical/NuclearEngineering.

Responsibilities

• Define scope of technical programs and develop effective, quality solutions for complex problems.
• Meet company and industry requirements and apply site systems for quality, timely results.
• Provide technical guidance to less senior professionals.
• Develop HVAC designs and generate design output documents.
• Perform equipment sizing, duct sizing, pressure drops, cooling tower sizing, loads, and balancing calculations.
• Create/modify P&IDs, system descriptions, and mechanical equipment lists.
• Support HVAC/mechanical design integration with fire protection and SRNS processes.
• Communicate technical results to customers, colleagues, and management.
