Job summary

Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS) is seeking a Principal Engineer – HVAC Design to provide advanced engineering expertise for nuclear and process chemical facilities. You will lead complex HVAC projects, develop calculations, and guide less senior staff while ensuring compliance with NFPA, ASME, and other standards.

The role requires extensive field experience, strong communication, and the ability to work on active construction sites.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years HVAC design experience in nuclear or process chemical industry.
• Experience developing HVAC engineering designs and calculations.
• Experience with HVAC equipment sizing, duct sizing, pressure drop, loads, cooling tower sizing, and air balancing.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, nuclear, and industrial codes and standards (NFPA, ASME, SMACNA, ARI).
• Ability to develop engineering calculations, drawings, and system descriptions.
• Field walk-downs and on-site evaluation of work on active construction sites.
• DOE 'Q' security clearance or ability to obtain; eFOCI registration with Facility Level Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead HVAC design efforts and provide technical guidance to engineers.
• Develop and review calculations, drawings, equipment lists, and specifications.
• Perform field walks-downs and assess in-place conditions on construction sites.
• Manage schedules, monitor progress, and review work for technical compliance.
