Job summary

Johnson Controls is hiring a Control Systems Engineer within the Central Engineering Support Team to design and implement building control systems across the United States. You will develop software, configure complex systems, and provide remote troubleshooting while mentoring peers and ensuring QA/QC excellence.

You will collaborate with branch teams, lead technical decisions, and drive standardization and safety practices across projects, contributing to a safer, smarter built environment.

Qualifications

• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex system issues.
• Deep understanding of BAS programming and HVAC fundamentals, including system sequences and field applications.
• Solid knowledge of control theory and building automation systems.
• Advanced computer skills, including engineering tools.
• Experience with integrating low‑voltage building systems, such as lighting.
• Understand BACnet and Modbus protocols and communication standards.
• Confidently lead technical decisions with sound engineering judgment and accountability.
• Clear and effective communication skills with project teams.
• Ability to relate technical knowledge to a non-technical audience.
• Enjoy working with a team and mentoring other.

Responsibilities

• Design and configure technically complex building control systems as defined by the contract documents.
• Develop and tests software programs necessary to operate the system.
• Provide remote troubleshooting support with graphics and databases.
• Ensure quality and consistency by QA/QC standards.
• Select, order, and track the delivery of materials for projects and coordinate factory-mounting processes.
• Assist in start-up, loading and commissioning of system controllers.
• Assist in commissioning system functionality and troubleshoot problems with subcontractors.
• Maintain clear communication with branch teams regarding progress and risks.
• Participate in the Engineering Mentoring Program.
• Adhere to safety standards.
