Job summary

Advocate Health is hiring a Stationary Engineer to operate and maintain campus HVAC systems including boilers, chillers, and automation systems. You will manage logs in CMMS, respond to alarms, and perform preventive maintenance to ensure safe, efficient facilities.

The role requires 4+ years of experience, relevant licensure, and strong communication skills. First shift, full-time with benefits eligible, 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of stationary engineering experience.
• Advanced knowledge of codes/regulations pertaining to equipment.
• Advanced computer skills including CMMS and building automation.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate HVAC equipment including boilers, steam absorption and centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, fans, pumps and systems per SOPs.
• Maintain accurate records and CMMS logs for startup, failures, problems, work in progress and completed work.
• Utilize BAS to monitor and control HVAC equipment; respond to alarms promptly and optimize operation using trends.
• Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC and other equipment per established procedures (inspection, cleaning, lubrication, adjustment, testing, repairs).
• Troubleshoot complex HVAC issues and determine root cause; perform repairs with minimal impact to operations.
• Maintain intermediate knowledge of medical gas systems.
• Respond to building occupant complaints professionally and inform requester of corrective action status.
• Maintain daily logs, preventive maintenance records and equipment repair files to comply with regulations.
• Perform general maintenance (painting, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, etc.) and document tasks in CMMS.
• Read blueprints and maintenance manuals to complete assignments; support small projects.
• Act as informal resource for peers with less experience.
