Job summary

Leidos seeks a Lead Transmission Line Engineer for electric transmission projects from 46 kV to 345 kV, applying NESC, ASCE, ACI standards. You’ll design overhead and underground systems, prepare bidding docs and construction packages, and coordinate with clients and internal teams.

Remote role with site visits across the client’s territory. The role requires a Civil Engineering degree and 8+ years in transmission design, plus proficiency in PLS-CADD/POLE, LPILE or FAD, and Bentley/MicroStation

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and minimum of eight (8) years of prior relevant experience in the design of electric utility transmission systems
• Experience reviewing full transmission line designs including PLS-CADD models, foundations, material, plan and profiles, and construction packages
• Knowledge of NESC, ACI, AISC, and ASCE code requirements; construction specifications; material procurement process; project schedules; and construction work packages
• Develop project scopes, budgets, and proposals
• Ability to work effectively in team environment but also able to work independently
• Proven ability to communicate with clients and project teams
• Work in client office is a possibility and/or periodic travel may be required
• Program Expertise: PLS-CADD and POLE; LPILE or FAD Tools; Microsoft Office
• Preferred Experience: EIT, FE, or PE License; Bentley MicroStation; Bentley ProjectWise; Mathcad; Autodesk AutoCAD; Construction Management and Support

Responsibilities

• Apply engineering standards in design of overhead HV transmission systems
• Perform engineering analyses and prepare bidding documents
• Draft plans and specifications and prepare material procurement and construction documents
• Interfacing with clients, project planning, environmental, permitting, and construction management personnel
