Job summary

Orbital Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Senior Substation Protection & Controls Engineer to lead design and deliverables for high‑voltage projects up to 500 kV. This remote U.S.-based role emphasizes leadership, client relations, and technical direction for the Substation Design Team.

The candidate will prepare engineering deliverables, provide guidance, and supervise protection & control design including single lines, schematics, and wiring diagrams. PE preferred; travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field with equivalent experience.
• Minimum 7 years in protection and control design; PE preferred for senior levels.
• Strong leadership, client relations, and remote collaboration skills.
• Experience with high voltage projects up to 500 kV; CAD proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Lead protection & control engineering including detailed design for HV substations.
• Develop and review electrical substation deliverables and design packages.
• Provide guidance to junior staff and coordinate with project teams.
• Assist in pre-bid activities, proposals, and project estimates.
