Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Substation Protection & Control Engineer to provide both technical and organizational leadership within our Power and Energy practice. You will lead HV protection and control projects, mentor engineers, and drive quality and client service across multiple initiatives.

The role emphasizes protection expertise, SCADA integration, and design delivery, with travel to various U.S. locations as needed. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
• PE license required.
• 15 years of related experience; domestic/international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, delivery, and technical execution of high‑voltage substation protection and control projects.
• Serve as technical authority for protective relaying, control, SCADA integration, automation, and communications.
• Develop and review protection and control deliverables including schematics, wiring diagrams, relay settings, and panel layouts.
• Lead studies, protection coordination, and equipment selections.
• Manage project budgets, schedules, and quality across multiple projects.
• Mentor engineers and designers; support staff development and succession planning.
• Support business development, client relationships, and proposal activities.
