Job summary

CDM Smith seeks a Senior Substation Protection & Control Engineer to provide technical and organizational leadership in our Power & Energy practice. You will lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers while delivering high‑voltage P&C projects and ensuring client satisfaction.

You will coordinate with multi‑discipline teams, oversee protection system design, relay settings, and documentation, and drive high standards of safety and quality across projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or related engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 15 years of related experience.
• Domestic/international travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, delivery, and technical execution of high‑voltage substation protection and control projects.
• Serve as technical authority for protective relaying, control systems, SCADA, automation, and communications.
• Develop, review, and approve protection and control deliverables (schematics, wiring diagrams, relay settings).
• Lead power system studies, protection coordination, equipment selection, and related analyses.
• Ensure compliance with client requirements, standards, and CDM Smith procedures.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for delivery, commissioning, testing, and startup.
• Drive engineering standards, quality reviews, and continuous improvement.
