CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Substation Physical Engineer | Regional Technical Leader to provide technical and organizational leadership within our Power and Energy practice. This role leads advanced HV substation design and grows a team of engineers.

The successful candidate will serve as a technical authority for substation physical design, oversee project delivery, mentor staff, and contribute to business growth and resource planning.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated leadership ability to develop and retain high-performing engineering teams.
• Strong expertise in HV substation design, utility standards, and power delivery infrastructure.
• Knowledge of AIS/GIS substations, equipment layouts, grounding, lightning protection, and station service systems.
• Proven ability to manage complex projects, budgets, schedules, resources, and competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, execution, and delivery of HV substations from 230kV to 345kV.
• Serve as Engineer of Record and technical authority for substation physical design.
• Mentor engineers and support business growth and staffing.
• Monitor utilization, budgets, schedules, and project performance.
• Support business development and client relationship management.
