Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Substation Physical Engineer | Regional Technical Leader to provide technical and organizational leadership in our Power and Energy practice. You will lead HV substation design efforts, grow a high-performing team, and drive successful project delivery from planning through startup.

The role requires deep expertise in AIS/GIS substations, grounding, protection & control, and strong client relationship management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• PE license is required.
• 15 years of related experience in HV substations or equivalent.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, execution, and delivery of HV substation projects from 13.8kV to 345kV.
• Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) for substation physical design.
• Mentor engineers and designers to support technical excellence and career growth.
• Manage team utilization, budgets, and schedules to meet project goals.
• Support business development and maintain client relationships.
