Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Substation Protection & Control Engineer to provide technical and organizational leadership within our Power and Energy practice. You will lead, develop, and grow a team of engineers while acting as the technical authority for protective relaying, control systems, and SCADA integration.

The role emphasizes project delivery, client service, and advancing reliable power infrastructure.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or related discipline.
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
15 years of related experience.
Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
Equivalent additional directly related experience considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

Lead the design, delivery, and technical execution of high‑voltage substation protection and control projects.
Serve as a technical authority for protective relaying, control systems, SCADA integration, automation, and substation communications.
Develop, review, and approve protection and control engineering deliverables including schematics, wiring diagrams, relay settings, and panel layouts.
Lead power system studies, protection coordination, equipment selection, and related analyses.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project delivery, commissioning, testing, and startup.
Drive technical excellence through quality reviews and standards development.
