Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Substation Physical Engineer to provide technical and organizational leadership within our Power and Energy practice in the United States. The role focuses on HV substation design (230kV–345kV) and leading a team of engineers and designers to deliver high‑quality projects.

The candidate will serve as technical authority, mentor staff, drive quality, and support business growth while coordinating with multiple offices and clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
• 15 years of related experience and ability to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for HV substation design from planning through startup.
• Lead, mentor, and develop engineers and designers to ensure technical excellence.
• Direct project delivery, budgets, schedules, and staffing with focus on client satisfaction.
• Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) for substation physical design and related studies.
• Collaborate with cross-discipline teams to support integrated project delivery.
