CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Substation Physical Engineer | Regional Technical Leader to provide technical and organizational leadership within our Power and Energy practice. This role combines advanced engineering expertise in High Voltage (HV) substation design with responsibility for leading, developing, and growing a team of engineering professionals.

Qualifications

• Experience leading HV substation design projects from 13.8kV to 345kV.
• PE license and strong leadership in project delivery.
• Ability to mentor engineers and manage budgets, schedules, and resources.
• Experience with AIS/GIS substations and protection & control systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, execution, and delivery of HV substation projects ranging from 230kV to 345kV.
• Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) and technical authority for substation physical design.
• Review engineering deliverables and ensure compliance with client requirements and industry standards.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams through planning to startup and commissioning.
• Drive quality reviews and engineering standards development.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers and designers.
• Recruit, hire, onboard, and retain engineering talent to meet project needs.
• Support business development activities and client relationship management.
