Job summary

Quality Technology Services, LLC (QTS) is seeking a Senior Substation Engineer to lead design and execution of utility infrastructure for our data center campuses. You will oversee HV substation design, construction, and commissioning under EPC contracts.

You should have 15kV–500kV expertise, FE/EIT with PE preferred, and a minimum of 10 years in substations. Travel up to 25% and mentoring of engineers are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
• FE and/or EIT registration
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in substation engineering or a related field.
• Proficient in substation design software
• Strong knowledge of 15kV through 500kV equipment and protective relays.

Responsibilities

• Lead design life cycle of high voltage substations under EPC contracts.
• Provide technical guidance for design and installation of substations.
• Oversee construction, installation, and commissioning of substation equipment.
• Identify risks and mitigation plans.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to meet timelines and budgets.
• Prepare technical reports and documentation for substation projects.
• Stay current with industry trends and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure compliance with EH&S regulations.
• Provide technical support and training to junior engineers.
