Job summary

Intersect, a Google subsidiary, seeks an Engineering Manager to lead HV/MV design oversight for energy and data center projects. You will drive interconnection strategy, coordinate with EPCs, utilities, and internal teams from development through commissioning.

The role requires 15+ years in power systems, strong leadership, and experience in 34.5-500 kV projects, ensuring safety, cost effectiveness, and reliability across lifecycle.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of total experience in technical leadership.
• Extensive clean energy project development and interconnection experience.
• Deep expertise in HV substation design (34.5-500 kV) for developers/EoR/EPC.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and external partners.
• Experience delivering utility-scale projects through energization.

Responsibilities

• Oversee preliminary HV transmission and substation designs.
• Lead EPCs, engineers of record, and external consultants.
• Govern maintenance and improvement of internal design tools.
• Coordinate with utilities to advance interconnection discussions.
• Review interconnection applications and dynamic models for accuracy.
• Serve as Engineering Manager for IE diligence and financing reviews.
• Establish design standards, criteria, and EPC exhibits.
• Review vendor specs, testing protocols, and commercial agreements.
• Manage the EPC RFP process to define technical requirements.
• Coordinate with Development, Land, Permitting, Construction, Operations.
• Resolve regulatory and technical challenges focusing on cost, schedule, quality.
• Champion safety and environmental stewardship across engineering.
